In-Progress Alliance and Affinity Groups

Alumni alliance and affinity groups provide a way for Georgetown University alumni to organize around an industry, shared interest, identity, or community. Groups develop through a phased, multi-year approach to demonstrate interest in and sustainability of the group before becoming officially chartered. Below are the current in-progress and chartered groups, separated by phase, for the 2025-2026 Academic Year.

2026-2027 Academic Year: For those interested in proposing a new alliance or affinity group for consideration, you must first submit a letter of interest by September 14, 2026. Please reach out to alliances@georgetown.edu for more details.

Phase 1: Incubation

A group of alumni with a shared industry, interest, or identity who are ‘testing the waters’ to initially gauge interest from alumni.

Phase 2: In-Development

The group has demonstrated initial interest from the alumni community and are focused on increasing engagement and building the foundation for a sustainable group.

Phase 3: Active

The group has demonstrated significant increased engagement and interest from the alumni community and spends 12-18 months preparing to be a formally recognized and chartered group of the Alumni Association.

Chartered Groups

The group has been formally chartered or grandfathered into the Alumni Association after building engagement and community for several years. The group remains committed to ensuring that they execute on three core areas annually: hosting a minimum of 2 events; maintaining robust volunteer engagement and succession planning; and executing a program or finding an area of focus to support current students.
