Leadership

Executive Director – Julia Farr (C’88, Parent’19, ’21, ’24)

Julia Farr, a sixth-generation Washingtonian and third-generation Hoya, is the first female executive director of the Georgetown University Alumni Association (GUAA). Farr is an attorney and entrepreneur.

She has 17 years of experience as a corporate securities attorney and executive, beginning her legal career at K&L Gates and later becoming vice president and chief compliance officer for public real estate investment trust Sotherly Hotels. In 2010, Farr left the practice of law to build a career in fashion. She opened her eponymous boutique in Washington, DCC. In 2012, she launched the Julia Farr Collection, a U.S.-based women’s apparel design, manufacturing, and sales company focused on the sartorial needs of the professional woman which donated a portion of sales to women’s and children’s charities.

Since graduating from Georgetown in 1988, Farr has volunteered extensively. In addition to serving on the GUAA Board of Governors and as a class ambassador for many years, she headed the Georgetown University Alumni Association from 2010 to 2012. During her term, she enhanced opportunities for alumnae connections and connected alumni based on special interests and professional affiliations. As all GUAA presidents do, during her GUAA presidency, she served simultaneously on the university’s Board of Directors.

As executive director, Farr oversees the Alumni Association Board of Governors, Career and Lifelong Learning, Law Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, Medical Center Constituent Engagement,Professional Alliances & Affinity, and Regional Engagement teams. Since arriving back on the Hilltop in 2018, Farr has focused on the Association diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy and efforts, spoken to alumni audiences across the globe, and led GUAA’s COVID-19 pandemic pivot to virtual alumni engagement which , offered hundreds of virtual events Hoyas. She is the host of “1789 Seconds,” a virtual fireside chat series featuring alumni stories and is a frequent contributor to the GUAA Ask the Author series and the Georgetown Magazine.

Farr lives on the corner of 36th and O and is the proud parent of three Hoyas, classes of 2019, 2021, and 2024. She is also the part-time parent of Jack the Bulldog!

Meet the Current Alumni Association President

Fitz O. Lufkin IV (C’11, G’12)

Before beginning his term as president of the Georgetown University Alumni Association, Fitz served on the Board of Governors for six years and was a past chair of the board’s Career Services Committee. He was a founding member of the Department of Government M.A. Advisory Board, communications committee co-chair for the Class of 2011, alumni mentor for the Georgetown Scholars Program alumni mentor, and AAP interviewer. As president, his priorities include expanding and strengthening GUAA’s engagement pathways—developing its portfolio of affinity groups, professional alliances, regional clubs, and class programs, while recognizing and creating volunteer leader development opportunities.

Outside of GUAA, Lufkin is a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting, where he is a leader in the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice. There, he helps retail and consumer products companies execute cross-border transactions and achieve desired growth. He has also facilitated executive workshops, strategy sessions, and trainings. Previously, Lufkin worked on Deloitte’s Global Corporate Development team, where he supported the firm’s global network in executing an aggressive inorganic growth strategy. Before joining Deloitte Global, he was a part of the Monitor Deloitte Strategy practice, where he developed and executed enterprise strategy and transformation initiatives for large multi-sector clients. Lufkin also helps lead the firm’s relationship with Georgetown, connecting with campus leaders to form collaborative, mutually beneficial partnerships.

While at Georgetown, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2011 and a Master of Arts in American Government from the Graduate School in 2012. His Masters Paper examined the Federal Government’s workplace design process in light of the then-novel concept of “telework.”

Lufkin’s hobbies include fitness, cycling, skiing, hosting dinner and cocktail parties, urbanism, and always rooting for the Hoyas!
