President – Kelly Mulvoy Mangan (SFS’91, Parent’25)

Kelly Mangan

Kelly Mulvoy Mangan graduated from the Walsh School of Foreign Service in 1991 and has remained connected to Georgetown University and the Alumni Association ever since. She has been a member of the Georgetown Clubs of Boston, Hong Kong, and New York, where she served as President when the John Carroll Awards Weekend came to the city in 1998. She has been a member of the Class of 1991 Committee since graduating, and served as co-chair of their last six reunions. Mangan joined the Board of Governors of the Georgetown University Alumni Association in 1999. She will become the president of the Alumni Association on July 1, 2022.

Mangan practiced law after graduation from Boston College Law School as an associate and partner at Cassin Cassin & Joseph LLP, in New York City. She is now serving her third, three-year term as an elected trustee on the Harrison Central School District Board of Education in New York. Since 2016 she has served as President of the Board of Education, which is responsible for the education of 3,700 students and oversight of a $130 million budget.

Mangan lives in Harrison, NY with her husband Jim, (C’92, L’95), and their three sons: Leo (C’25), Teddy, and Tommy. When she is not driving around the New York tri-state area watching her boys compete in golf tournaments, regattas, and basketball games, she is an active volunteer in the local community, where in addition to her service on the Board of Education, she has taught religion and serves on the parish council at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY.

Executive Director – Julia Farr (C’88, Parent’19, ’21, ’24)

Julia Farr, a sixth-generation Washingtonian and third generation Hoya, is the first female executive director of the alumni association. Farr is an attorney, entrepreneur, and fashion designer. She has 17 years of experience as a corporate securities attorney and executive, beginning her legal career at K&L Gates as an associate and later serving as vice president and chief compliance officer for Sotherly Hotels, a public real estate investment trust. In 2010, Farr left the practice of law to build a business in fashion. She opened her eponymous boutique in Washington, D.C. In 2012, she launched the Julia Farr Collection, a U.S.-based women’s apparel design, manufacturing, and sales company focused on the sartorial needs of the professional woman, with a portion of sales donated to women’s and children’s charities.

Since graduating from Georgetown in 1988, Farr has had an extensive history of volunteerism with the university. In addition to serving on the GUAA Board of Governors and as a class ambassador for many years, she served as president of the Georgetown University Alumni Association from 2010 to 2012. During her term, she enhanced opportunities for alumnae to connect with Georgetown and one another and also connected alumni based on special interests and professional affiliations. During her GUAA presidency, she served simultaneously on the university’s Board of Directors, as all GUAA presidents do.

As executive director, Farr oversees the Alumni Association Board of Governors, Career and Lifelong Learning, Law Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, Professional Alliances & Affinity, and Regional Engagement teams. Since arriving back on the Hilltop in 2018, Farr has focused on the Association diversity, equity and inclusion strategy and efforts, spoken across the globe to alumni audiences, and, most recently, led GUAA’s pivot to virtual alumni engagement during the pandemic, offering hundreds of virtual events to thousands of Hoyas. She is the host of 1789 Seconds, a virtual fireside chat series featuring alumni stories and is a frequent contributor to the GUAA Ask the Author series.

Farr lives on the corner of 36th and O and is the proud parent of 3 Hoyas, classes of 2019, 2021, and 2024. She is also the part-time parent of Jack the Bulldog!

Fitz is a second-term Governor and the current President Elect of the Georgetown University Alumni Association.  He is a past chair of the board’s Career Services Committee. Fitz has delivered diversity and inclusion workshops to fellow board members and was part of the team who developed and facilitated the board’s first ever virtual strategic planning retreat.

He serves as his undergraduate class Communications Co-Chair, a Georgetown Scholars Program alumni mentor, and a dedicated AAP interviewer. Outside of GUAA, Fitz is a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting, where he helps lead the firm’s relationship with Georgetown, connecting with campus leaders to form collaborative, mutually beneficial partnerships.

Immediate Past President – Frank Ciatto (B’88, L’94, Parent’21)

Frank Ciatto (B’88, L’94)

Born and raised in Jersey City, N.J. and the product of 11 years of Jesuit education, Frank Ciatto was the first person in his family to graduate college. During his time on the Hilltop, Ciatto took Georgetown’s creed of “men and women for others” to heart, and has since dedicated himself to the betterment of the university and the Georgetown community.

Ciatto has been a Georgetown volunteer for 20+ years. He served as the fundraising chairman of his 10-year reunion class, served on the Annual Fund Council for two years, and acted as a mentor to McDonough School of Business students for six years.

He was elected to the GUAA Board of Governors in 2003 and has since served in a number of leadership roles, including GUAA President and Treasurer as well as Chair of the Audit and Finance, Awards, and Class Advancement Committees. Frank enjoys his time on the Board and, like many, bleeds Hoya blue!

Ciatto is a Partner at Venable LLP, a nationally recognized law firm. In his legal practice, he helps entrepreneurs succeed in new and existing business ventures. With over 20 years’ corporate law experience, his practice covers many areas, including mergers and acquisitions, and succession planning. In addition, Frank is a CPA, formerly with Coopers & Lybrand in New York—experience he uses to add value to for his clients. Frank lives with his wife Deanne (C’89) and three terrific daughters, Sophia (C’21), Francesca, and Julianna, in Bethesda, Md. They are a very active family. When they are not attending Hoya games, you can find Frank watching his girls play soccer, softball, tennis, or basketball games somewhere around Montgomery County.
