Meet the Officers

The officers of the Board of Governors of the Georgetown University Alumni Association include the President, President-Elect, Executive Director, Treasurer, Parliamentarian, and Immediate Past President.

President – Fitz O. Lufkin IV (C’11, G’12)

Before beginning his term as president of the Georgetown University Alumni Association, Fitz served on the Board of Governors for six years and was a past chair of the board’s Career Services Committee. He was a founding member of the Department of Government M.A. Advisory Board, communications committee co-chair for the Class of 2011, alumni mentor for the Georgetown Scholars Program alumni mentor, and AAP interviewer. As president, his priorities include expanding and strengthening GUAA’s engagement pathways—developing its portfolio of affinity groups, professional alliances, regional clubs, and class programs, while recognizing and creating volunteer leader development opportunities.

Outside of GUAA, Lufkin is a management consultant at Deloitte Consulting, where he is a leader in the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions practice. There, he helps retail and consumer products companies execute cross-border transactions and achieve desired growth. He has also facilitated executive workshops, strategy sessions, and trainings. Previously, Lufkin worked on Deloitte’s Global Corporate Development team, where he supported the firm’s global network in executing an aggressive inorganic growth strategy. Before joining Deloitte Global, he was a part of the Monitor Deloitte Strategy practice, where he developed and executed enterprise strategy and transformation initiatives for large multi-sector clients. Lufkin also helps lead the firm’s relationship with Georgetown, connecting with campus leaders to form collaborative, mutually beneficial partnerships.

While at Georgetown, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Government from the College of Arts and Sciences in 2011 and a Master of Arts in American Government from the Graduate School in 2012. His Masters Paper examined the Federal Government’s workplace design process in light of the then-novel concept of “telework.”

Lufkin’s hobbies include fitness, cycling, skiing, hosting dinner and cocktail parties, urbanism, and always rooting for the Hoyas!

Executive Director – Julia Farr (C’88, Parent’19, ’21, ’24)

Julia Farr, a sixth-generation Washingtonian and third-generation Hoya, is the first female executive director of the Georgetown University Alumni Association (GUAA). Farr is an attorney and entrepreneur.

She has 17 years of experience as a corporate securities attorney and executive, beginning her legal career at K&L Gates and later becoming vice president and chief compliance officer for public real estate investment trust Sotherly Hotels. In 2010, Farr left the practice of law to build a career in fashion. She opened her eponymous boutique in Washington, DCC. In 2012, she launched the Julia Farr Collection, a U.S.-based women’s apparel design, manufacturing, and sales company focused on the sartorial needs of the professional woman which donated a portion of sales to women’s and children’s charities.

Since graduating from Georgetown in 1988, Farr has volunteered extensively. In addition to serving on the GUAA Board of Governors and as a class ambassador for many years, she headed the Georgetown University Alumni Association from 2010 to 2012. During her term, she enhanced opportunities for alumnae connections and connected alumni based on special interests and professional affiliations. As all GUAA presidents do, during her GUAA presidency, she served simultaneously on the university’s Board of Directors.

As executive director, Farr oversees the Alumni Association Board of Governors, Career and Lifelong Learning, Law Alumni Relations and Annual Giving, Medical Center Constituent Engagement,Professional Alliances & Affinity, and Regional Engagement teams. Since arriving back on the Hilltop in 2018, Farr has focused on the Association diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy and efforts, spoken to alumni audiences across the globe, and led GUAA’s COVID-19 pandemic pivot to virtual alumni engagement which , offered hundreds of virtual events Hoyas. She is the host of “1789 Seconds,” a virtual fireside chat series featuring alumni stories and is a frequent contributor to the GUAA Ask the Author series and the Georgetown Magazine.

Farr lives on the corner of 36th and O and is the proud parent of three Hoyas, classes of 2019, 2021, and 2024. She is also the part-time parent of Jack the Bulldog!

President Elect – Gail Gillis-Louis (C’75)

Gail Gillis-Louis (C’75), has been engaged in leadership almost from the moment she walked on campus. A John Carroll awardee and former Georgetown Cheerleading Captain, Gillis-Louis was recognized as an exemplar of excellence during the 15th anniversary celebration of women in the College of Arts and Sciences. Her leadership roles range from serving as a founding member of the Board of Advisors of the College, to membership on the Board of Hoyas Unlimited and the Alumni Admissions Program, to pioneering the establishment of vehicles for the engagement of Black alumni through the Patrick Healy Dinner, the African American Advisory Board, and the Black Alumni Council. Since completing two terms on the Board of Governors, she has remained an active Alumni Senate member.

Professionally, her career in the financial services industry has included retail and mortgage banking, from operations to lending. Her passion, however, has been enabling small and medium-sized businesses and nonprofits to expand and thrive. She particularly relishes the opportunity to help guide minority and women-owned businesses achieve their goals. Her career includes substantial experience in major financial institutions, most recently in the Business Banking Division of PNC Bank. Gillis-Louis is also a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where she received her MBA with a concentration in marketing and finance.

A fifth-generation Washingtonian, Gail is proud to reside locally with her husband, Conan (SLL’73, G’78, L’86), and their daughter Maya, where she serves as the President of the Parish Council at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, just outside Healy Gates.

Treasurer – Michael C. Yaeger (B’03)

Mike Yaeger and his wife Laura Horos Yaeger (N’03) have been actively involved in the Georgetown community for many years and look to always keep volunteering and leadership at Georgetown as core principles in their family. Yaeger came to Georgetown from Medford, MA and has been active across Georgetown athletics, Class of 2003 leadership, and the GUAA Board of Governors. Most recently, he ran the Investments subcommittee for the GUAA.

Professionally, Yaeger is a Managing Director and Private Wealth Advisor at Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in New York. He serves as a member of the Family Office Committee, Market Intelligence Group, Client Experience Group and Advisor’s Council. Prior to Goldman, he worked as a senior global investment specialist at J.P. Morgan and was a member of the First Scholars Program. As part of this program, Yaeger received his MBA in Finance, Economics and Entrepreneurship from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

Outside of Georgetown and Goldman, Mike, Laura and their three children (Copley, Hudson and Bayley) are active in the Robin Hoods Kids initiative in New York City and their hometown of Rye, NY.

Parliamentarian – Mark Polemeni (C’88, L’91, Parent’22)

Mark is the current Parliamentarian on the GUAA Board of Governors. During his tenure on the Board, he served as Chair of the Communications Committee, Chair of the Revenue and Royalty Subcommittee of the Audit and Finance Committee, and on the Board Member Development Committee. He is currently on the Board of Advisors of the Georgetown University Wall Street Alliance.

Mark began his professional career at a large law firm, later becoming in-house counsel and a compliance officer for asset management firms, including Alexandra Investment Management and Citadel LLC. He currently works as the Chief Regulatory Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Partner of Perella Weinberg Partners, an investment banking and asset management firm based in New York City. Mark is actively involved in leadership of several local organizations, including the Board of Governors of Fairmount Country Club.

Mark received a Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown. His sister (SFS ’87) and brother-in-law (B’87) attended Georgetown, and Mark and his wife Pam are proud parents of another Hoya (SFS ’22).

Immediate Past President – Kelly Mulvoy Mangan (SFS’91, Parent’25, ‘28)

Kelly Mangan

Kelly Mulvoy Mangan (SFS’91, Parent’25, ’28) graduated from the Walsh School of Foreign Service in 1991 and has since remained connected to Georgetown University and the Alumni Association. She has been a member of the Georgetown Clubs of Boston, Hong Kong, and New York, where she served as President when the John Carroll Awards Weekend came to New York City in 1998. She has been a member of the Class of 1991 Committee since graduation, and co-chaired their last six Class of 1991 reunions. Mangan joined the GUAA Board of Governors in 1999. She has served as the president of the Alumni Association from 2022-2024.

After graduation from Boston College Law School, Mangan practiced law as an associate and partner at Cassin Cassin & Joseph LLP, in New York City. She is now serving her third, three-year term as an elected trustee on the Harrison Central School District Board of Education in New York. Since 2016 she has served as President of the Board of Education, which is responsible for the education of 3,700 students and oversight of a $130 million budget.

Mangan lives in Harrison, NY with her husband Jim, (C’92, L’95), and their three sons: Leo (C’25), Teddy (C’28), and Tommy. When she isn’t driving around the New York tri-state area to watch her boys’ golf tournaments, regattas, and basketball games, she is an active volunteer in the local community. In addition to her service on the Board of Education, Mangan has taught religion and serves on the parish council at the Church of the Resurrection in Rye, NY.
