Board of Governors Candidate Biographies

2025 Biographies

In February 2025 the Nominations Committee, composed of current members of the Board of Governors, convened to consider applications from qualified alumni to fill fourteen positions on the board. Applications were evaluated based on the following criteria:

  1. Volunteer Service to Georgetown University
  2. Public Service and Community Involvement; and
  3. Career Accomplishments

The Nominations Committee recommended ten current Governors to stand for election for a second term, and four alumni to stand for election for a first term. The candidates will begin their terms on July 1, 2025 after the Alumni Elections are held and the election results are certified.

All alumni are eligible to vote in the 2025 BOG Election. The election launched on Monday, April 28, 2025 and will close on Thursday, June 22 at 11:59pm EST. Please check your email for your username/password. The election website can be found here.

The Board will accept applications for its 2026 Election in the fall of 2025. Please check back for updates.

First Term Governors Slate

andrew clark

Andrew Clark (B’08)

Andrew Clark is a tax managing director in CBIZ’s Boston, Massachusetts office. He is the New England leader of Private Client Services, focusing on the CBIZ Family Wealth Services and Trust & Estates practice groups.

Clark specializes in advising large, multi-generational families, including their individual, fiduciary, partnership, and estate returns. He works with clients on developing tax efficient, proactive strategies to achieve their goals while ensuring federal, state, and international tax compliance. In addition, he focuses on advising “ex-pats” and U.S. non-resident clients, as well as c-suite level executives and company founders, on tax and estate planning related to executive compensation and qualified small business stock.

Clark was the President of the Georgetown Club of Boston from 2016 through 2024 and was the Club’s treasurer for the prior four years. Clark has been an active interviewer for the Alumni Admissions Program since graduating in 2008 and leads CBIZ’s recruiting efforts at the University. He also is a board member of The Community Builders Inc, where he serves as the Chairman of the Audit & Finance Committee.

michael flaherty

Michael Flaherty, M.D. (C’03)

Michael Flaherty, M.D. (C’03) has been active in Georgetown Athletics and involved in the Georgetown Alumni community for many years. As a four-year member of the Georgetown Football team while on the Hilltop, he has remained dedicated to the athletic department with involvement in the Hoyas Unlimited Board and the Gridiron Club, as well as in Class of 2003 leadership. Dr. Flaherty has also served as a mentor for athletes entering the medical or science fields.

Dr. Flaherty is a fellowship trained sports medicine orthopeadic surgeon at The Bone and Joint Center in Albany, New York. After finishing his orthopeadic residency at Albany Medical College, he completed the University of Massachusetts Sports Medicine fellowship. He specializes in arthroscopic labral repair and reconstruction of the hip, arthroscopic labral repair and rotator cuff repair of the shoulder, and complex ligamentous reconstruction of the knee. Dr. Flaherty is the team physician for the University at Albany Great Danes, the Skidmore College Thoroughbreds, the Saratoga Race Course Jockeys, as well as multiple local high schools in the Capital District of New York.

When he is not covering local sporting events or attending Georgetown games, Dr. Flaherty lives in Saratoga Springs, New York with his wife Debbie and their three children, Leah, Michael, and Josephine. They are a very active family who like kayaking and hiking in the Adirondacks, skiing, playing ice hockey, and enjoying the horses in Saratoga.

daphne keshishian

Daphne Keshishian M.D. (M’93, P’26)

Daphne Keshishian is an internal medicine physician practicing in Bethesda, MD. Focusing on wellness and prevention, she incorporates her special interest in Culinary Medicine through evidence-based medicine to help her patients optimize their health. Keshishian serves as Associate Clinical Faculty in the Department of Family Medicine, working with students as part of their Ambulatory Care rotation and as part of their Culinary Medicine track. She serves as the Faculty Director of the Knowlan Society. For over a decade, she has served on the Women’s Board of the American Heart Association of Greater Washington DC and is the current liaison between the Board and its research grantees. As a past President of the Georgetown Clinical Society (GCS), she remains active and is a member of the Executive Board. She received the GCS Doctor of the Year Award in 2015. Daphne is currently Chair of the Medical Alumni Board. She is a 2017 recipient of the GUAA 1851 Medical Alumni Service Award. She is a proud Hoya doctor and loves to engage with medical alumni to strengthen their network and help connect them to the greater Georgetown community.

a jay khanna

A. Jay Khanna, MD, MBA (C’91, M’95)

A. Jay Khanna, MD, MBA (C’91, M’95) is a Washington, D.C. native who earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Georgetown University and Georgetown University School of Medicine. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, followed by specialized spine surgery fellowship training in the departments of neurosurgery and orthopaedic surgery at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. In 2004, Dr. Khanna returned to Johns Hopkins as a spine surgeon, where he practiced for 17 years.

After 26 years away from the Hilltop, in 2021 Dr. Khanna returned to Georgetown University School of Medicine as the D’Aniello Department Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Physician Executive Director of the MedStar Orthopedic Institute in Washington, D.C.

Dr. Khanna is a dedicated member of the Georgetown University School of Medicine’s Medical Alumni Board and currently serves as Vice President of the Georgetown Clinical Society. Working on campus allows him the opportunity to give back to future Hoyas and Hoya physicians, a responsibility he embraces with gratitude.

His clinical practice focuses on spine surgery, and he is actively involved in clinical research, education, and training of future orthopedic and spine surgeons. He is also a respected member of several national orthopaedic and spine surgery research and education societies, including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and the North American Spine Society (NASS).

Second Term Governors Slate

natlaie wolf

Natalie Wolf Barth (B‘96)

Natalie Wolf Barth is a long-time member of the Board of Advisors of the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business and has completed one term on the Georgetown University Alumni Association’s Board of Governors. Barth is the Immediate Past President of Park Avenue Synagogue, a leading and dynamic congregation in New York City.

Prior to entering philanthropic work full-time, Barth was the Deputy Chief Operations Officer at Perella Weinberg Partners (PWP), a corporate advisory and asset management firm. Before joining PWP, Barth was an Associate then Vice President at Morgan Stanley. Earlier in her career, Barth was an investment banking analyst at CIBC World Markets/Oppenheimer. Over the course of her career, Barth helped to complete numerous debt, equity, and merger deals across diversified industries and helped to raise capital for hedge funds.

Barth resides in New York City with her husband and has twin college-age sons. A native of Beaumont, Texas, Barth received a B.S.B.A. in Finance and International Business from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

scott brener

Scott Brener (C’87, P’24)

Scott Brener is a 1987 CAS graduate who earned his JD at Emory University in 1991. Stemming from Chattanooga, TN, Brener relocated to Minneapolis in 1993 where he resides with his wife Maureen (1987 SLL) and three sons, Brian (2024 MSB), Connor and Zach.

Brener’s early career focused on public service while being employed on Capitol Hill before serving in advisory capacities to three sitting Minnesota Governors. His public service activity culminated when appointed as Minnesota’s Commissioner to the Department of Labor and Industry where he managed and led the state’s labor agenda for numerous years. Throughout the last 18 years, Brener’s career focus pivoted to the corporate arena where he served on the leadership team of the SFM Companies for many years before founding a national executive management consulting firm, The Brener Group.

Outside of corporate offices, Brener remains active in many civic and corporate oriented boards. In this manner, Brener has led a variety of board entities ranging from the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, National Association of Government Labor Officials, the Insurance Federation of Minnesota, the Edina Community Foundation, and the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport Foundation.

Brener’s commitment to Georgetown has been extensive. Brener has participated in the Alumni Admissions Program for nearly 30 years. During the early 90’s, he aided in resurrecting the Atlanta alumni chapter before participating in other local chapters. As a 1987 Class Ambassador, Brener has served in leadership capacities for numerous class reunions. He remains a passionate Georgetown athletics’ fan and member of the Hoya Nation while serving on the boards of Hoyas Unlimited, Hoya Hoops Club, Hoya Gateway as well as the Executive Committee of the Board of Governors.

mike ford

Michael C. Ford (L’84)

Mike Ford received his JD from Georgetown University Law Center. During his career, he had the privilege of working in multiple industries, including financial services, government, public utilities, hospitality, and aerospace. These sectors afforded him the opportunity to serve in executive leadership roles in legal, business operations, and human resources, thus enabling him to provide a broad lens on complex, global issues.

Throughout his professional life, Ford has maintained an unwavering commitment to empower the next generation of inclusive leaders. Through governance roles on various non-profit boards, he is personally committed to ensuring that all voices have the opportunity to be heard and celebrated.

His commitment to the university includes serving as a member of the GUAA Board of Governors, the GUAA Black Alumni Council, a co-chair of the “We are Georgetown: Celebrating our Black History” project, and conducting undergraduate and law applicant interviews as part of the Georgetown Alumni Admissions Program.

Ford and his wife, Vanessa, have established a family foundation to create educational opportunities for students of color so that all may witness the power of possibility and the energy of achievement.

regina gannon

Regina Gannon (C’90, P’25, P’27)

Regina currently sits on the Audit and Finance Committee and the Philanthropy Committee. In March of 2025 Apex Group Ltd. (“the Group”), the leading global financial services provider, announced the appointment of Gannon as Global Chief Business Development Officer. In this role, Gannon will drive global business growth by building deep relationships with key clients, enhancing engagement with industry partners, collaborating on product development and go-to-market strategies, and setting commercial priorities for the business.
Gannon has 30 plus years of extensive experience in the financial services industry, with a proven track record of driving growth through strong, advisory-based relationships with institutional clients. Her background spans capital markets, investor services, investment management, risk management, and fundraising; focusing on both traditional and alternative asset classes. Prior to joining Apex Group, Gannon most recently served as Managing Director and Head of BlackRock’s Private Credit Investor Relations/Product Strategy team.

Tesia Henn (C’09)

Tesia Henn (C’09)

Tesia Henn graduated from Georgetown in 2009 with a French major and Business minor and received her MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business in 2013. She joined Pfizer as an MBA summer intern in 2012, and over the last 13 years has held various corporate finance roles of increasing responsibility. Henn is currently a Senior Finance Director for the global Research & Development (R&D) organization, which is responsible for both early- and late-stage development of medicines across all of Pfizer’s therapeutic areas.

Georgetown has always been a special place to Henn – it’s not only where she made lifelong friendships, but also where she met her husband and where they got married in 2013. As such, giving back to Georgetown has also always been important. Since graduation, Henn has volunteered as an alumni interviewer in both NYC and Connecticut; she also serves as the Alumni Admissions Program (AAP) Chairperson of the Northern Fairfield County, CT committee and is the Events Chair for the Alumni Club of Fairfield County. Additionally, she is the co-lead for Hoyas in Health, an in-development group that hopes to be recognized as a GUAA professional alliance in the future. As a first-term Governor, Henn currently serves as the Chair of the Career Services Committee and is a member of the Audit & Finance Committee.

A New Jersey native, Henn lives in Darien, Connecticut with her husband, Tim, and two daughters, Ellie (8) and Maggie (4).

Freda Kong (B’95)

Freda Kong graduated from McDonough School of with a Bachelor of in Business Administration in 1995 in Accounting. As Big Four, active California-licensed CPA and CFO, Kong has built a diverse career extensive expertise in finance and accounting, including successful IPO experience in both for-profit non-profit sectors. Kong currently serves as CFO of the Buck Institute, the world’s first biomedical research institute dedicated to the science of longevity. Prior to the Buck Institute, Kong served as consulting CFO for several venture-backed med-tech including Bone Health Technologies and Cardiospire. Kong focuses heavily on financial stewardship, planning, and ensuring efficient operations to foundation for growth. Kong also serves on nonprofit boards. At the Bond of Sports Kong is responsible and maintaining financial controls, implementing accounting policies and procedures, managing donation recognition, and ensuring tax compliance. She also serves as a finance board advisor at the Prison Project, a nationwide journalism organization helping the incarcerated publish their stories. For Georgetown University, she currently serves as a Board of Governor and is active volunteer with the Georgetown University Alumni Association, serving on the Board of the Georgetown Club of Northern California including interviewing for her local Alumni Program committee.

phillip lo

Philip Lo (B’04)

Philip Lo looks forward to his second term serving on the Board of Governors of the GUAA after a productive first term where he served on the Class Advancement Committee, Career Services Committee and later on the Audit & Finance Committee. Lo arrived at the Hilltop as an international student from Ghana; his first trip to the States. He was far away from home in a foreign country, but that did not deter him from pursuing his passion in finance at Georgetown’s MSB.

During his time at Georgetown, he DJed for the school’s radio station, worked part time at Lauinger Library and the Career Center to pay for his Wisey’s chicken madness, and recommended stocks for the Student Investment Fund. By far his most successful accomplishment at Georgetown is marrying his fellow classmate after meeting in Accounting 102. Together they have two future Hoyas and are living in New York.

Since graduation, Lo worked at two investment banks before joining a technology private equity firm as a founding member. During his 13 years tenure, he was promoted to Managing Director and helped scale the firm’s capital commitments to $9 billion. Lo currently works at a middle market private equity firm investing in industrial and service companies with $8 billion of assets under management.

Lo remains very engaged with Georgetown post graduation. He serves as the Chair of his graduating 2004 class committee, is a board member of the Georgetown Wall Street Alliance and has interviewed for the AAP coming up 20 years.

steve luck

Steve Luck, MD, MS (G’86, M’90, P’21, P’23)

Steve Luck received a Special Masters degree in Human Physiology in 1986 and his MD degree in 1990 from Georgetown University. He completed his Anesthesia residency in 1994 at UCLA. In 1996, he started The Anesthesia Group, PC to serve two community hospitals. His focus shifted in 2005 to create an ambulatory anesthesia services company, Anesthesia Concepts where he was Vice President and Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Luck joined MedStar Anesthesiology in 2018 to help grow the health system’s first ambulatory surgery centers. He currently serves as the Director of Ambulatory Anesthesia and the Medical Director for the MedStar Surgery Center at Lafayette and is a Georgetown Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology.

Dr. Luck is finishing his first term on the BOG and continues to serve on the Medical Alumni Board. He was President of the Georgetown Clinical Society in 2011-12. Steve and his wife Jenifer Aventuro Luck (G89, M93, R97, W98) have provided consistent mentorship to the school of medicine through programs such as Dine with a Doc, World of Choices, CURA and the White Coat program. Steve and Jenifer have three children Avery, Jackson (C21), and Conor (SFS23).

Lindsay McDonnell (N’11)

Lindsay McDonnell (N’11)

Lindsay McDonnell (N’11) is honored to serve a second term on the Board of Governors. A dedicated Hoya, she has been actively involved in the Georgetown Club of Philadelphia since graduating, most recently becoming Club President in 2024. She also co-chairs the Board of Governors’s Communications Committee with Kate O’Brien.

A former NICU nurse at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, McDonnell pivoted to alumni leadership after a car accident sidelined her nursing career. She is eager to return to nursing as it is truly her life passion. McDonnell has interviewed for the Alumni Admissions Program since graduating in 2011 and has contributed to her class committee to help plan her reunions.

Beyond Georgetown, Lindsay is in her twelfth season as an assistant coach for Merion Mercy varsity softball and enjoys cheering on the Phillies as a partial season ticket holder with her boyfriend. She is proud to be a Philly Hoya and a member of the Board of Governors!

chris perkins

Chris Perkins (B’94, P’27)

Chris Perkins (B’94, P’27) is a New Jersey-born, die-hard Hoya hoops fan who has been an active AAP member for over 20 years, first in the District and now in New Jersey where he resides. He is currently an emeritus member of the University’s Black Alumni Council, formerly acting as Treasurer and Co-Chair of the financial aid and
admission committee; he’s now engaged in his second term with the University’s Alumni Association Board of Governors. Continuing his involvement with the University, he is an active alumni connection to the Steers Center for Global Real Estate where he hosts class tours, mentors students during the school year and takes one-off interactions to provide industry insight.

In addition to his Georgetown service, professionally Perkins is employed by The Related Companies, where he is the Senior Vice President of Commercial Accounting overseeing their non-residential operating real estate portfolio.

Family “downtime” includes traveling, seemingly year-round, to either a hockey or a lacrosse tournament for his two children still at home while keeping the Hoya tradition alive with his oldest who is a student in the College of Arts and Sciences.
