The inaugural Dr. Katy Roth Scholarship has been awarded to Lindsey Hastings-Spaine (M’19). Established by the Honorable Jane R. Roth, Katy’s mother, the scholarship honors “Katy” Kellond Roth (M’01) who passed away in 2014.

Remembering Katy’s determination and passion for service, the Roth scholarship is awarded to a student from the DC region who is the first in his or her family to attend medical school. Katy’s work in the medical field truly embodied cura personalis, providing hospice and palliative care with a focus on underserved populations. She had a passion for service; "Determination, innovation, and connection were typical of Katy Roth. She possessed an unusual ability to inspire and motivate every patient she treated.” says Stephen Ray Mitchell, Dean for Medical Education at the School of Medicine.
