GEMA Externship Program

The Georgetown Entertainment & Media Alliance and the Crawley Career Education Center collaborate on the GEMA Externship Program, a unique opportunity for undergraduate seniors, MBA, Law and all other students enrolled in a graduate program at Georgetown. The externship provides students the unique opportunity to spend time with experienced professionals in entertainment and media, and get a firsthand look at day-to-day operations in the industry.

Specifically, students will attend a number of individual or group meetings (ie, ā€œinformational interviewsā€) with professionals representing a broad spectrum of experiences within the industry. While each schedule of informational interviews is individually designed with a student’s particular interests in mind, the larger goal of the externship program is to facilitate a greater understanding of the industry as a whole.

MBA students interested in GEMA Externship should contact Eric Young (ewy2@georgetown.edu) in the MBA Career Center before applying

To apply:

  1. Access Application Information
  2. Prepare your resume
  3. Draft a cover letter that demonstrates your interest in the entertainment and media industry (drawing on any academic, co-curricular, work or other experiences you may have), your long-term career goals and how the GEMA externship experience may help you to achieve those goals.
  4. Submit one letter of reference from a faculty member or employer recommending you for the GEMA externship experience

The GEMA Externship: Where Are They Now?

In this series, GEMA reconnects with past Externs to find out how their careers have progressed since graduation.
