We Are Georgetown: Telling Our Stories

Join the Georgetown University Alumni Association’s Black Alumni Council and Lauinger Library at the inaugural We Are Georgetown: Telling Our Stories panel and reception, celebrating the student and alumni experience through storytelling and dialogue.

This inaugural event will be a special evening showcasing a panel of students and alumni and their unique campus experiences, and expose attendees to the subjects and substance of the We Are Georgetown oral history collection. The evening will feature remarks from Dr. Alexia Hudson-Ward, university librarian and dean of the Georgetown University Library, and Dr. Adam Rothman, professor of history and director of Georgetown’s Center for the Study of Slavery and Its Legacies.

A panel discussion moderated by Amaya Sims (SFS’27) will explore a range of stories are in the We Are Georgetown collection, including:

  • Nile Blass (C’22)
  • Fathia Fasasi (H’27)
  • Connor Lannaman (SFS’27)
  • Chris Pitt (C’24)
  • Delaney Washington (B’26)

Following the conversation, we will gather for a food reception where we invite all attendees to connect and share their Georgetown stories and memories. Register today!

We Are Georgetown: Celebrating Our Black History, a signature program under the Georgetown University Alumni Association’s Black Alumni Council, is an oral history project designed to document and share the rich history and experiences of the Black community at Georgetown University, leveraging oral histories, artifacts, and memorabilia. Interviews are presented in partnership with Georgetown University Library and made available in DigitalGeorgetown.

This event is generously sponsored and co-hosted by the Georgetown University Library.
