URBAN FARE: A Duke Ellington Showcase
Featuring Georgetown University students

When: Sunday, April 3, 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM (EDT)
Where: Georgetown University – Gaston Hall, 3700 O St NW, Washington, DC

Georgetown University’s GirlTalk mentoring organization hosts an evening of vocal, dance, spoken word, and instrumental performances by the talented Duke Ellington high school girls, Georgetown students, and DC’s own Ari Lennox. Support the youth in our community and enjoy a evening full of entertainment!

A networking event from 8-9pm proceeding the showcase will be held in Healey corridor 2. The event provides the performers with the opportunity to network with alumni and other professionals in the entertainment business to learn about college and professional life, the majors they pursued during college as well as interests after they graduated. Small finger food will be served.

GirlTalk is a Georgetown University student-led organization that mentors high school girls at DC’s Duke Ellington Performing Arts School. Mentors are committed to giving back to the community and investing time in building relationships with the mentees to help them become successful. During their sessions, the mentors and mentees discuss issues and obstacles regarding education, race, politics, feminism, social lives, and everything else in between. Sessions are held every Friday at Duke Ellington school of the arts. Girls are welcome to come as they please but we normally have about 25-40 mentees, grades 9-12. We also have about 15 mentors.
