Hoyas in Letters connects and engages members of the Georgetown community passionate about words and the power of writing.

The mission is precise and expansive, reflecting the changing landscape of various industries related to the written word — newspapers, magazines, digital and social media, screenwriting, and of course, book publishing. Special focus is on authors, literary agents and editors. Hoyas in Letters is organized by alumni in partnership with the university’s New York Office of Advancement.

The esteemed alumni panel included Brian Murray, President and CEO of HarperCollins Publishers (C’88), Rich Battista, Executive Vice President of Time, Inc., President of People and Entertainment Weekly, and Founder of GEMA (B’86), Erin Duffy, author of Bond Girl and On the Rocks (C’00), and Heather Lauer, author of Bacon: A Love Story (B’96). The discussion was moderated by David Ebenbach, Visiting Assistant Professor of Creative Writing at Georgetown.

The next Hoyas in Letters event is set for Wednesday, March 16, 2016. The featured panelist will be bestselling author and Georgetown alumna Laurie Halse Anderson. Anderson has written such mega successful novels as Forge, Chains, Fever 1793, and the National Book Award Finalist, Speak. Learn more about Anderson. Stay tuned for time and location.
