Title:Hoya Handles: Step Up Your Social

If you manage or contribute to your club’s social media pages, then you know that finding content to post can be a challenge—especially with most social media experts saying that you should be posting once a day on Facebook and up to five times a day on Twitter.

It’s important to have a balance of content on any page. You want to not only promote content about your club, but you also want to be seen as a place where local alumni can be reminded of their Georgetown memories or hear the latest Hoya happenings. In order to accomplish that goal, here are five Hoya Handles to follow so you can keep your club social media content fresh.

1. Georgetown Alumni (FacebookInstagramTwitter)

With content curated to keep alumni up-to-date on all the happenings on the Hilltop, Georgetown Alumni social media accounts will give you friendly, visually pleasing reminders about major university events, like John Carroll Weekend or Reunion. Sometimes they will even repost content that is relevant to alumni, so be sure to tag them in your posts—you might just get a retweet!

2. President DeGioia (Facebook)

President DeGioia shares information about major university events, happenings, and initiatives on his social media pages. Be the first to know these updates by following his accounts.

3. Georgetown Athletics (FacebookTwitterInstagram)

Cheer on and support the Hoyas from your computer, phone, or tablet by following Georgetown Athletics. Get updates and highlights from each of the Georgetown athletic teams as they compete across the country.

4. Georgetown University (FacebookTwitterInstagram)

Hear from students through the Georgetown University social media channels by watching Georgetown stories, or learn something new from the #AskAGUProf videos. This is the account to follow if you want a daily taste of what life is like on the Hilltop today.

5. Georgetown Library (FacebookInstagram)

While you may not have spent much time in Lauinger going through the GU Archives, you can catch up with archive highlights by following the Georgetown Library’s social media accounts. These are great memories to share with your local alumni, and maybe they’ll post a highlight from your time at GU!
