Title:GEMA and Georgetown Alumni Club of the UK Host Dynamic “Economics of Storytelling” Panel at Financial Times London

On the evening of April 27, 2026, GEMA and the Georgetown Alumni Club of the UK co-hosted an alumni panel event at the headquarters of Financial Times entitled, The Economics of Storytelling: The New Power Map in Media and Entertainment.

The stellar panel was comprised of Tania Bryer OBE (F ’84), Anchor and Executive Producer, CNBC and Chair of NEC @ Cancer Research UK; Francesca Johnson (C ’10), Head of Acquisitions, Bossanova; Bill McGoey (B’13), Global Music Strategy Lead, TikTok; and Matthew Garrahan, Operating Partner, Redbird Capital Partners.

The lively discussion, expertly moderated by Tania, covered an array of topics using “Economics of Storytelling” as a framework to draw out insights from a diverse panel that represented music, filmmaking, journalism, and sport. Some of the key questions debated were: Who really owns the audience (creators or institutions)? What remains defensible for media in an AI world? What can legacy institutions learn from the creator economy?

GEMA would like to thank our panelists and to extend special thanks to Kritasha Gupta (C ‘15) and Aisha Babalakin (F ‘15) for leading the coordination of this event along with Noelle Murbach-Lami (F ‘99), Erica Nonni (C ‘03) and Muriel van de Bilt (F ‘17).

Finally, a heartfelt thanks goes out to Financial Times for their hospitality.
