Club of Japan: A visit to Nishonoseki-beya run by former Yokozuna Kisenosato (稀勢の里)

Hello Hoyas!

We are excited to announce our next event, a visit to Nishonoseki-beya run by former Yokozuna Kisenosato (稀勢の里) on Thursday, February 23rd (national holiday). Nishonoseki-oyakata has kindly invited GUACJ to visit his sumo-beya, and speak about sumo and his experience as Yokozuna. The facility is not open to the public, and this is a rare opportunity to experience sumo culture up close.

GUACJ family (including children) are welcome to participate. The event will be held in Japanese (official translation will not be provided due to time constraints and cost), but anyone is welcome to join (we will do our best to support non-Japanese speaking participants).

We are currently working out the details and will send out the RSVP form in early February.

Tentative details

Date: Thursday, February 23rd (national holiday)

Time/Meeting Place:

Meet at Tokyo station at 8:45am (Bus transportation to/from the sumo-beya will be provided from Tokyo Station)
Expected time to return to Tokyo Station is 15:00 or 16:00 (This may change depending on the details being worked out)
Expected Cost: 3,000 JPY/person (all proceeds will be donated to Nishonoseki-beya to support their program)

We hope many of you can join this exciting opportunity!

Hoya Saxa!
