Club of Puerto Rico: Reception with Professor Girod

Puerto Rico Hoyas,

Save the date! On Thursday, March 7th from 7-9pm, we will be hosting an Alumni reception featuring Professor Desh Girod from Georgetown’s Government Department.

Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Professor Girod returns to the island to discuss his upcoming book Jim Crow Foreign Policy with historian Mario Ramos Méndez, a book that investigates how American Southern (Jim Crow) Democrats influenced the U.S. decision to suspend large-scale territorial expansion after annexing Puerto Rico, the Philippines, and Guam.

The event will be followed by a cocktail reception for all Georgetown Alumni and their families, as well as admitted students and their families. Stay tuned for official event details, but please save the date! We hope to see you there!

Hoya Saxa,

The Georgetown Club of Puerto Rico
