The “Good Death” had its roots in the Middle Ages with the “ars moriendi” or “art of dying”. “The Narrative of the Good Death” analyses more than 1200 obituaries of Evangelical Christians between 1830 and 1880, showing how beliefs about death and the afterlife both changed and remained the same in Victorian England during that 50 year period.
