The Georgetown Alumni Club of Pittsburgh serves as the bridge between Georgetown University keeping alumni, faculty, parents, and friends connected to the heart of the Hilltop. We are a chartered club of the Georgetown University Alumni Association (GUAA) and we are managed and operated entirely by alumni volunteers.

The Club of Pittsburgh is proud to have been recognized nationally by the Georgetown University Alumni Association:

  • 2018 Club of the Year (Under 2,000 Alumni)
  • 2019 Educational Event of the Year (Panel Discussion: From the Hilltop to the Big Leagues, February, 2019)

There are more than 1,000 Georgetown alumni who call Pittsburgh home. The Club of Pittsburgh hosts between ten and twenty events per year. All events are advertised on this page, so check back often! If you are new to town, we want to hear from you!

First organized in 1935, the Georgetown Club of Pittsburgh is one of the oldest GU alumni clubs in the country. It was one of the original ten regional alumni clubs that formed the GU Alumni Association in the 1930s.

There are many historic ties between the Pittsburgh region and Georgetown University. The city of Latrobe, Pennsylvania is named after Benjamin Henry Latrobe (1806-1878), a Georgetown alumnus and railroad executive. Mon Valley native John Brisben Walker (1847-1931) attended Georgetown and later became publisher of Cosmopolitan magazine. Pittsburgh Steelers chairman Art Rooney (1901-1988) attended both Georgetown and Duquesne Universities. The Georgetown School of Foreign Service was originally established in 1919 through a donation from Pittsburgher James Farrell (1863-1943), President of US Steel Corporation. The present-day Healy Gates on the Georgetown campus were donated by a Pittsburgher!
