FAQ

  • How can I get more involved in GEMA?

GEMA is an all-volunteer organization. We need your help! Getting involved is the best way to meet other members and expand your network of friends and colleagues in the industry. Please consider thoughtfully how you would like to get involved and the time commitment you can make, then contact info@gema-hoyas.org.

  • Can GEMA help me get a job or summer internship?

GEMA is not a job search service. Members can request informational interviews only to explore career directions with other members through the GEMA LinkedIn page.

Current students with internship inquiries may contact Jacki Banks at the Cawley Career Center at Jacki.Banks@georgetown.edu.

  • I am a student, how can I apply for the GEMA Externship Program?

GEMA Externship applications are managed by Georgetown University.

With questions, please contact Jacki Banks at the Cawley Career Center at Jacki.Banks@georgetown.edu.

  • How can I submit information about an internship or employment opportunity that might benefit other HOYAS?

We appreciate your interest in helping others! GEMA and GU can help promote internship and employment opportunities. Please contact info@gema-hoyas.org to share opportunities via GEMA’s email distro list.

  • Can GEMA send out an email to its members to help promote my business or creative performance?

GEMA does not typically promote members’ ongoing business endeavors. If a business endeavor is directly related to the entertainment & media industry and offers value to GEMA members through special discounts or offers, the request will be considered on a case by case basis.

    GEMA Email Blast Policy

While GEMA would like to help support all members’ activities, we cannot produce email blasts for all. It would simply cause email glut for our members. On occasion, GEMA will distribute an email notice on behalf of a member if a member is premiering a creative work at a special event or holding an industry-related event, and members are offered special discounts on tickets and/or special access to the event. GEMA does not promote ongoing business endeavors of members through email blasts.

  • Can GEMA provide me with contact info for members?

GEMA considers protecting members’ privacy one of its most important responsibilities. We do not give out member contact information to people who do not know each other. On occasion, GEMA will connect friends who may have lost touch if the member being sought has given us permission to do so. GEMA does provide social media networks for its members to connect.
