Meet Vera

Vera Wilhelm, Ph.D., is a leadership and career coach with extensive experience in career development, transition coaching, and change management. Her areas of focus are leadership competencies, career development, and professional growth and resilience in the face of adversity. She brings international experience from the corporate world and the public sector. Wilhelm has held leadership positions in the World Bank and has experience in international development, finance and training development, and mentoring programs for professionals worldwide. Her clients include leaders from Fortune 500 companies, international development organizations, and the public sector. As a coach, she is passionate about encouraging clients to embrace new challenges and grow to their full leadership potential. Wilhelm supports her clients as they manage change and transition in their professional or personal lives with a focus on managing resistance and discomfort during change processes and attaining personal growth by building courage and confidence to take the next step. She utilizes deep listening, insightful questioning, somatic coaching techniques, mindfulness practices, and humor to create a safe space to allow clients to clarify their intentions, explore their strengths and weaknesses, and integrate new behaviors as they manage crises and transitions. In the past, Wilhelm served as a coach in several World Bank Group coaching programs, including the WBG internal coaching program, the coaching program of the International Finance Corporation, the coaching program for staff in fragile and conflict affected areas, and the young professional program of the World Bank—both as a coach and assessor. She graduated from Georgetown University’s Institute for Transformational Leadership, is PCC-certified with the International Coaching Federation, and has a master’s and doctorate degree in economics from Cologne University. She is also a mental fitness coach and explores the linkages between positive psychology, neuroscience, and coaching. She speaks fluent English, French, German, and beginner-level Spanish.

She especially enjoys working with people who are seeking to clarify and reinvent their approach, strategies, and outlook as they transition towards a new career, leadership role or life stage, or who look to lead others through change. She has worked with senior and emerging leaders in complex and fast-paced work environments in multinational development organizations, public sector administrations, the private sector, and nonprofit organizations. Wilhelm’s approach to coaching focuses on the appreciation of the client’s individual traits and strengths, the development and implementation of a vision for a desired next stage, the managing of resistance and negative emotions during transition processes, and personal growth by building resilience and confidence to take the next step. She utilizes deep listening, insightful questioning, somatic coaching techniques, mindfulness practices, and humor to create a safe space to allow her clients to clarify their intentions, explore their strengths and weaknesses, and integrate new behaviors as they manage transitions and change.

Coaching Session Fee Structure

Flexible rates ranging from $100-$150/hour, 15% discount, 5% additional for GOLD alumni
