Hoyas Giving Back

Giving back to the Georgetown School of Medicine is an opportunity for alumni to invest in the future of a preeminent medical school that has educated physicians for nearly two centuries, recognized for its commitment to caring for the whole person, or cura personalis. Your financial support will help prepare outstanding medical leaders to forge a healthier future for all.

The Georgetown Experimental Medical Studies Program (GEMS) is a core pillar of this commitment. This one-year, non-degree, post-baccalaureate program is designed to equip underrepresented and disadvantaged students for success in medical education. Since its inception in 1977, GEMS graduates have matriculated into GUSOM, as well as many other medical schools.

  • Medical Campus Ministry

Inspired by the Jesuit value of cura personalis, care of the whole person, the Georgetown University School of Medicine educates future medical leaders to become knowledgeable, ethical, skillful and compassionate physicians and biomedical scientists. One of only four Jesuit medical schools in the United States, Georgetown understands that many of our students enroll here because of this identity—seeking a student experience distinct from other elite universities. Led by Medical Campus Ministry, there are a number of ways for students at the School of Medicine to engage and deepen their faith, including weekday Masses, Ignatian retreats, one-on-one spiritual direction, and other community events where chaplains and other guests gather with students over food and drinks to discuss their faith and take questions on related issues.
