Tuesday, June 4, 2024
Noon to 1 p.m. EDT

Join your fellow Hoyas as we explore the fascinating story of how the Jesuits built one of the nation’s largest and most successful college networks, and how Georgetown made that growth possible. Learn how Georgetown faculty and alumni founded many great Jesuit schools like Boston College and Holy Cross; how the oldest colleges in California, Missouri, Alabama, and elsewhere have Georgetown ties; and how some Jesuit colleges far from DC awarded degrees in Georgetown’s name. Learn why, to this day, many Jesuit schools still use blue and gray as their school colors and use the word “Hoya” in their fight songs.

Rizzi (michaelrizziauthor.com) is the author of Jesuit Colleges and Universities in the United States: A History (CUA Press, 2022), the first comprehensive history of Jesuit higher education.
