Hoyas Victory Caps the Medical Alumni Student Happy Hour

Georgetown School of Medicine students and alumni erupted into cheers as the men's basketball team clinched a last-minute victory over Rutgers University during the 3rd Annual Medical School Alumni Ambassador (MSAA) Happy Hour on Jan. 21.

More than 65 students, alumni, faculty and staff met at the Eagle Bar in Clyde's Restaurant to swap tales of rotations, exams and sleepless nights over the restaurant's signature crab cakes. Several area alumni, members of the Medical Alumni Board and Stephen Ray Mitchell, M.D., dean of medical education, attended the event. Regina Torsney-Durkin, M.D., (C'73, M'77) and the Georgetown University Alumni Association sponsored the happy hour to allow students to socialize and network with alumni.

MSAA Chair, Gabe Gaviola (C'09, M'13) and Vice Chair, Lauren Bakios (M'14) share their reflection on the event.

"We express the unanimous sentiment of the attendees when we say that the Happy Hour was a tremendous success. Few scenes are as heartening as students and alumni from all classes mingled as colleagues joined by the bonds of professional fellowship, but as friends suffused with true camaraderie. On behalf of MSAA and our fellow students, we would like to extend our utmost gratitude to Dr. Torsney-Durkin, the School of Medicine, and the Alumni Association, whose support was indispensable in making this event possible."
