DESCRIPTION:Dear GUACJ Members\, \nApologies for repeated emails. The date and time of this event are 10am-11am on Saturday\, April 9th. Please see below for the detailed information. \nWe are delighted to announce that Mr. Keiro Kitagami (MSFS ’96)\, member of the House of Representatives\, has kindly offered to speak with the Georgetown community in Japan about Russia/Ukraine conflict and his perspectives for Japan. Please find detailed information on the event below as well as the online RSVP form. \nMr. Keiro Kitagami graduated from the Faculty of Law\, Kyoto University in 1992. In the same year Mr. Kitagami joined the Ministry of Finance. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and received his Masters Degree in 1996. Later\, Mr. Kitagami was elected for the first time in the 44th (2005) House of Representatives election. He is currently in his fourth term. From 2011 to 2012\, he served the country as the Parliamentary Vice Minister of Economy\, Trade and Industry\, and as Special Advisor to the Prime Minister from October to December 2012. In 2007 Mr. Kitagami was honored as a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum (Davos Forum) \nPlease RSVP here and provide your (i) name\, (ii) title\, (iii) organization\, (iv) Georgetown affiliation\, and (v) email address to receive an official invitation and Zoom link to the event. The invitation will be sent to you on April 7th\, after registration closes.Mr. Kitagami is a member of the House of Representatives from Kyoto. He will share his opinions on Russia/Ukraine conflict – what it means for Japan\, how it affects the power balance in Asia\, and what the world will look like after the conflict. We also hope to cover a broader discussion on this topic. \nThe form will close in the evening of Thursday\, April 7th (Japan time). \nAs space will be limited\, please note that RSVPs will be considered in the order received. This is expected to be a highly interactive session\, and we expect to have plenty of time for Q&As. We will try to get through as many questions as time permits. \nA recording of the discussion will not be made available\, so please make sure to join the live event. \nWe hope to see you there.
