DESCRIPTION:Join alumni and friends from May 11 – 15\, 2025 on an immersive journey visiting iconic sites of the American Civil War. Learn how Harpers Ferry inflamed sectional tensions. Discover why Antietam changed the course of the conflict and allowed Abraham Lincoln to issue the Emancipation Proclamation. Walk through Gettysburg Battlefield\, gaining insight into why it’s considered the most important engagement of the American Civil War. Each site provides unique opportunities to both remember\, and reflect upon our nation’s history. \nShared with participants from cosponsoring associations\, space is sure to fill quickly. From Little Round Top to Pickett’s Charge\, each landmark offers insights into the bravery and sacrifice of those who fought here. \nNext visit the Shriver House. This meticulously preserved home provides a glimpse into civilian life during the Civil War\, offering a poignant contrast to the battlefield experiences of soldiers.
