I retired from regular full-time, salaried employment in January, 2010. The nonprofit world in DC is no longer the congenial world it once was. I decided to pursue a lifelong interest in the history of Washington, DC. To make a long story short, I'm 15 months into writing a book about Larz and Isabel Anderson, a prominent couple who were on the stage of world events from 1900 until Larz's death in 1937. They are not just a fascinating couple, they are representative of a period of American history, the late Gilded Age up through the Great Depression, that is only now starting to be discovered by cultural historians. It's a fascinating journey.
