2015 Reunion Weekend Recap

Taking a trip down memory lane is always more fun in the company of friends. More than 4,000 members of the Georgetown alumni family experienced this first hand as they returned to the Hilltop for Reunion Weekend 2015, May 28-31. Throughout the weekend, alumni, family, staff and friends of the university engaged in nearly 100 events showcasing alumni and faculty expertise on such varied topics as foreign policy and service, religion and the Pope’s influence in America, the future of cyber security, and alumni careers in media and entertainment.

Activities like the All-Class Parade, the Hoya Hustle Reunion Fun Run and the All-Class Family Picnic made reconnecting with classmates and making new friends both easy and fun. Alumni even found time to revisit favorite hangouts, like Anupam Chakravarty (F’10, MA’14) and Ashley Tedone (C’10), friends from their freshman year at Darnall Hall, who recreated an old #ThrowbackThursday photo of themselves from their junior year.

Alumni also enjoyed special tours of campus with a look at the many campus improvements currently underway, such as the former Jesuit residence and the Healey Family Student Center. President John J. DeGioia updated all in attendance on the university’s progress toward its vision of a greater Georgetown for generations to come.

The spirit of giving shined bright as the reunion classes collectively raised more than $168 million in support of the university. The Class of 1970 was given the President’s Cup for having the highest percentage of donors during the reunion year, while the Class of 2010 was presented the Reunion Cup for having the largest percentage of classmates return for reunion.
