Faculty Recognition Award 2009

Dr. Stephen Ray Mitchell has been a member of the Georgetown community since 1988, when he accepted a faculty position to provide rheumatology teaching and service in adult and pediatric rheumatology at Georgetown University Hospital. He served as residency program director in internal medicine from 1992 to 1999 and initiated a combined medicine pediatric residency at Georgetown, which has just celebrated its 12th anniversary. Mitchell received the Department of Medicine’s residency teaching award on numerous occasions and was finally retired as a master teacher in the inaugural class of the Sol Katz Society. Interested in a perfect MATCH?

Sign up now for MATCH (Matching Alumni to Caring Hoyas). The MATCH Program matches fourth year students with Georgetown University Medical Alumni across the country who are willing to be a volunteer link of information and assistance to medical students beginning their first year of residency in the alumnus' city.

This program is a wonderful way to unite Georgetown Medical Alumni at all levels of their careers and particularly helpful to alumni that would like to stay involved with the Georgetown Medical School but are limited due to distance or time constraints. Read more »

Medical Alumni Host Student Dinners

The Dinner with a Doc series organized by the Medical Students Alumni Ambassadors club under the direction of the Medical and Dental Alumni program office was very successful this fall. Ten alumni hosted 36 students in their homes for a relaxed evening of conversation and career mentoring. Several students had further interaction with their hosts when they visited their offices to shadow them for a few hours. Read more »
